What you actually get
A wiki-style page carrying your description, platforms, a Visit Homepage link and an alternatives list, sitting inside a comparison graph other people can edit. The value is being named as an alternative to software people already search for, not the link: the outbound link is nofollow.
How to submit to Alternative.me

Create an account, at the right URL
Their how-to is explicit that anyone may submit but an account is required first. /register is a 404; the working path is /signup/, and the card is a display name, an email and a password with no social or Google route at all.

Go to the account dashboard
/account/ carries a Submit Software button and four counters: total, approved, reviews and connections. Note the total before you start, because it is the only proof you will get that anything landed.

Name it, which already creates a draft
The first screen of the modal asks for the software name alone. Pressing Next writes a row into Saved Drafts immediately, so an attempt abandoned here leaves a draft behind rather than nothing.

Fill the long form
Icon, category, short and full descriptions, homepage and pricing URLs, type, monetization, status, platforms, screenshots, videos, features and external links. Name, category and both descriptions are the required ones.

Submit, and watch the row move
On Submit the row leaves Saved Drafts and appears under Pending Submissions as Pending Approval with a Withdraw button. The site publishes no review time, and the entry becomes a wiki page other people can edit once it is live.

Signing up means setting a password: the card is display name, email and password, with no Google or social route, so this one cannot be handed to an agent that does not type credentials.
Entries are wiki pages, not your listing. Each one prints who composed it and who last edited it, so someone else can rewrite your description after you publish it.
The site publishes no review time anywhere: no queue, no status page, nothing on the how-to. Your dashboard's submission list is the only place to look.
