What you actually get
A page in an AI directory that sits alongside a large set of free PDF, image and converter tools, which is where most of the site's traffic comes from. The sample listing we checked carried rel="noopener noreferrer sponsored" on its outbound button, so at least some links there are marked sponsored rather than followed.

How to submit to TheToolBus

  1. Open /ai-tools/submit
No account. Pick the Directory listing placement, which is the free one; the other is the sponsored homepage banner.
  2. Fill six fields
Tool name, website URL, one of six categories, a pricing model, a short description and your email.
  3. Press Submit Tool and expect a captcha
The form posts to formsubmit.co, which answers with an "Almost There" page and a reCAPTCHA checkbox. Nothing is delivered until somebody ticks it.

Gotchas

Submitting hands you off to formsubmit.co and a reCAPTCHA checkbox. Nothing reaches them until a person ticks it, and there is no way to come back to it later: leave that page and the whole form has to be filled again.
The form is React-controlled, so the two selects reset themselves if they are set any way other than clicking the option. Watch the Pricing field in particular, which cleared itself silently between attempts.
The sample listing we checked links out with rel="noopener noreferrer sponsored", so treat the link as marked rather than followed until you see your own.
Most of the site is free PDF and image converters rather than an AI audience, so judge the traffic on that rather than on the directory.

Let your agent submit to TheToolBus

Connect SubmitMap to your AI over MCP and this page stops being something you read and copy. Your agent asks for the TheToolBus playbook and gets the brief for this exact form, with the values already taken from your submission pack instead of placeholders you fill in by hand.

What it does for this platform
Checks your product against the 2 TheToolBus rules above, so you find out you would be rejected before you open a tab.
Hands your agent all 3 fields this form asks for, none of them optional, already filled from your pack.
Tells you what paying buys here, so you pick it on purpose: the Directory listing placement is free and reviewed. The Homepage banner placement on the same form is marked Sponsored, with no price shown until you pick it.
Types it into TheToolBus in your own browser, and stops for you when the form wants a sign-in.
