What you actually get
A card in the tools repo under one category, plus a maker profile in the Indies section carrying your name, country and avatar, and a country page at /country-tools/<country>. Outbound links here carry no rel attribute at all, so the link is a plain dofollow. They publish it by hand: the confirmation says you will be notified when the assets have been uploaded, and no time is given for that.

How to submit to IndieHacker Tools

  1. Choose which listing path you are on
    /list-indie-tool offers two cards. First-timers go to /list-tool, which adds the maker-profile section; anyone who has listed before goes to /list, which skips it.
  2. Open the form itself
    Both pages are Tally embeds and neither renders in the page. The forms are at tally.so/r/w7qWoA for a first listing and tally.so/r/w5bz6P for a repeat one, and they work when opened directly.
  3. Fill the maker section
    Your name as it will appear as the maker, a contact that is either a Twitter handle or an email, a country, and a profile picture. The country is what puts you on a /country-tools page.
  4. Fill the tool section
    Name, link, a one-line description, an App status of Brainstorming, Work in progress, Launched or Generating revenue, one category, and a logo.
  5. Submit and wait
    It redirects to /thank-you saying the assets were received and you will be notified when they have been uploaded. There is no reference number and no queue position.

Gotchas

The submit page renders blank. Both /list-tool and /list are Tally embeds whose iframe never receives its src, so you get a header, a footer and nothing between them. The forms themselves are fine at tally.so/r/w7qWoA and tally.so/r/w5bz6P, which is the only way in until they fix the embed.
Several listings resolve to an affiliate redirect such as go.elfsight.io or famewall.io?via= rather than to the product's own domain. If you run a programme, expect them to use it in place of the URL you submitted, and the link stops pointing at you.
Two separate uploads are required and one of them is a picture of you, not of the product. A maker profile with your name and country is part of the listing, not an optional extra.
There is no account and no reference number: the confirmation is one line saying the assets were received, and nothing tells you when or whether it went up. Note the date yourself and check the category page.
